Toy chewing culprit found!

I wondered who had been chewing up the new toys. Well we found him!

Snowy is the culprit. Caught in action here having a good old gnaw. I am really happy that he's using the toys for their intended purpose as I am always worried that they'll ignore new things.

Good Boy Snowy! :D

Tonight's evening entertainment is..

Toys and millet.

I have taken all of the perches out of the Summer Palace - one of the three cages and put lots of the new toys that Jerry won interspersed with millet on the inside walls.

Hope they enjoy it, looks like fun.

Can you spot what the blocks on the roof spell out? :)

Progress of a Blueboy

Blue boy has recently moved in with Roswell and Jerry. He didn't have much to pack but he did bring with him nightly millet rations. He, Jerry and Roswell enjoy sharing these in the evening as a team-bonding experience.

It was decided that Hector and Abbie were being a bit mean to Blueboy, pushing him off the perch and not letting him eat. He was very reluctant to leave but now he enjoys his new digs.

Roswell and Jerry however are a lot kinder, of course there is a little shuffling about to get the best position but in the end they all eat happily side-by-side.

Blueboy is sleeping a lot better too - actually I have no idea whether he'd sleeping but he's calmer and quieter at night. Much less stressed.

Yesterday I witnessed Blueboy sing twice, Very small songs and quite short but it's the first time he has sang since September.

Each morning Lilek tries to bash beaks with a reluctant Blueboy. It's good that other budgies are trying to socialise with him.

A new toy was bitten a bit the other day but Blueboy says it wasn't him. Sometimes I wonder if they realise that I want them to bite these things and play with them or they think that they are being naughty!

Jerry wins new toys for the fiends!

The budgies received a parcel today from Canada!

They watched excitedly as I sliced it open with some scissors. Inside were 7 lovely toys that Jerry had won in a competition!

Thank you Zohie they are lovely :)

I have hung them up all around the place and so far the birds are scared of them but one day when they are less chickeny, they will enjoy them :D

Going to make some toys for the fiends!

I recently ordered some Stainless Steel Bells from: http://onceuponawing.com/Default.aspx

I bought these to replace all the dangerous and rusty metal ones I had. I do not want my birds to get heavy metal poisoning. I know this sounds like to much Metalica or Alice Cooper but it's actually quite serious and can kill. It came all the way from Florida to my little part of East London in the UK. As we can't get Stain

I also ordered a lot of wonderful stuff from http://www.chinchillas2shop.co.uk/

I am going to make the fiends some great bird-safe toys to play with. :)

Brave budgies? - I think not.

The new toy - a wonderful ladder with lots of colourful things and nice wood to chew - has been here for a couple of weeks now and the budgies have barely been near it!

I have tried putting it in the following places:

inside a cage, stretched from side to side, hanging down from the main mirror on the wall, on top of a cage, across the front of a cage, hanging down the front of a cage.

It's been mostly ignored and feared.

The closest they have got so far to it is Lilek biting some of the blue plastic chains when I have dangled them in front of him.

They can be such scardy birds at times. If I was a budgie (which I am not, I think) I would love this toy!

The contrived tree rends a healthy workload.

Seven birds eating breakfast

It's not easy to get breakfast organised when you have seven hungry beaks to feed. Especially when they don't all stay in the same place at the same time, sometimes it's possible to get a good photo though.

Yum yum say the birds.

New member of the flock!

It’s a clay budgie that my mum brought me back from Eastbourne, it’s a third of the size of a real budgie and it’s a female, but my four feisty boys are petrified of it :)

With the absence of my camera (husband is borrowing it) today the photos are going to be a bit cack, sorry!

I’m evil evil evil as can be, don’t mess around with me

What shall I try first Monty, corn or Mange Tout?

Did you know that they buy the expensive stuff for us, they don’t eat any?

Film050

Hey, that Mange Tout and corn is the same colour as me!

A paddling pool and some mysterious orange stuff

Thankfully today in Budgie land things have been a lot calmer – maybe due to the troops sleeping separately or maybe just cos they were scared of the high winds today.

Budgies seem to have hopefully grasped the concept of “budgie shall not bite budgie”

Who is this little white fella Roswell? – is he eating our millet?

bodgies 21-8-10 043

I have my eye on you and yes I did try some of the orange concoction how did you know?

I’m a cute little puffball and I wouldn’t ever hurt any budgie

bodgies 21-8-10 002

I found a bargain when I went to do a little shopping, it’s meant to be a “double cat feeding dish” but I thought it would make a great paddling pool for the boys.  So far Monty has ventured in which is a start – the ping pong balls seemed to help :)

In my efforts to vary their diet I made a cauliflower, sweet potato and couscous mash for the birds, they had a slight nibble and will get more tomorrow morning!

There is plenty in the fridge so they’d better like it or it’s on the menu for us this week – sssshhhhh don’t tell the husband!

My budgies love to Vogue

It’s been a real pose party here this morning, all the lovely budgies vying for attention. Jerry sprang into action when “Real Wild Child” was played on the radio, I think it should be his theme tune.

Snowy “Is my Lippy straight?”

Fluffy budgies and terrifying Pat Butcher earrings

I got some really cute photos of Monty and Snowy preening each others head feathers, I wonder if they realise how sweet they look, probably not.

We aren't cute, we’re just doing what budgies do, alright?

It was very hard to get a pose from Roswell today, he just wouldn’t stay still long enough. I tried and tried and he just wanted out of the cage in the end, so I let him and left it at that.

Roswell wants out, get out of da way fool

Roswell tries to get out

Pretty Jerry preening and Roswell looking at me and waiting patiently for me to move away from the door so he can fly away!

I went out and did some shopping today and saw these teething rings, thought they were ideal for hanging off of things for the budgies.

Do you think Pat Butcher will want them back at some point?
