What have the budgies been up to?

Fly my pretty!

Got a great photo of little Lilek flying towards me yesterday.

It makes him look a little more chunky than he is cos his wings are behind him and it makes them look short.

Look at the eager expression on his little chops :)

Why do you always have to interrupt me when I am playing?

I like to tap things with my beak to show that they are mine (everything is mine) and hop around as high as I can.

Get that camera out of my face.

Gimme millet demands Roswell

So I did and he ate it all up. He's a lot heavier than little King Monty, I had to hold my arm out for 10 minutes while Roswell picked away at it.

Can I get him to step on my hand when there is no delicious treat involved though - the answer is a firm NO!

Oh well he's still very cute and it's nice to have him trust me enough to sit on my hand and eat millet :)

All the birdies had bath-time and Parsley earlier. I put lots of parsley in some clear glass dishes and most of the budgies had a massive dunk in the water. Dumpling waded through several times and then delighted in soaking us through by flying over us again and again!

After bath-time I rinsed and then clipped the parsley to ladders and a mug tree so that they could chew on it for a while.

I left them out a blue food dish with water and some plastic balls in it in case they fancied anther dip though, it's a rather warm day today and I don't want them getting overheated, poor little birdies.

Lilek gives his opinion on Chives

I, Lilek the budgie also known as "Dumpling" by my owner, declare that Chives are fit for budgie consumption and also quite good to roll in when pegged in a dish and sprayed with water in a satisfactory manner. I must admit to not liking being called Dumpling or even worse "Dumples" or "Dumpy Wumpy" and if my owner wants to know why I almost bit off her entire finger today then she need look no further. I also demand more millet and human food - I would like a share of the twisty white things that the humans have for lunch everyday with that red sauce and those tiny brown squares that they eat far too much of, I want to know what they taste like. I also want to see more colourful socks and be near more feet. My owner insisted that we upload these photos because she thinks I am cute.

Monty in a bowl

I think Monty likes the Jungle Munchies, he's sitting in the bowl so that none of the other birds can get to them.. :)

It's the fruity oats he's after, they all seem to love 'em. They give Monty the energy he needs to be able to command the troops satisfactorily for the day.

Happy Birthday Monty!

Yesterday we celebrated an anniversary with Monty - it has been a year since we brought Monty and Eric home. So in effect Monty is one year old (even though he's about a year and a half really, but we don't know his true date of hatching)

I made the budgies small white party hats and we bought them some treat sticks that fell apart so we put them in a dish (actually it's the budgie bath..) for them to feast their little beaks upon.

Earlier on Snowy presented Monty with some art that he had made from a sandpaper sheet that I had lined the bottom of the playground with. Let me know what you think it is, Snowy seems to think it's abstract and open to personal interpretation.

Lilek has been very busy landing on our feet , arms and hands then singing to them as well as his ongoing relationship with Sky - it's really nice to see them as friends.

Anyway I have party hats and millet to clear up..

Look what awaited me when I got back from my shower this morning!

The cheeky little so and so's running riot, they ran along the floor and the sofa, onto my laptop, I think Jerry was trying to tap out a message on the budgie forum I frequent "help us, we need more millet" My husband managed to capture some photos on his mobile phone, including the one below, you can see Roswell on the floor calling up to Jerry to fly down. Roswell tried to land on the sofa but failed "pull out, abort abort!"

Lovely bright and sunny day for the cheeky chaps

It's a lovely day today, sun is shining and the birds are tweeting - in their loud boisterous way! Monty has already ventured into the kitchen several times to sing to the dishes and run about on the draining board. We think he likes the acoustics out there! We also think he likes the attention he gets from us getting up and chasing him out again. The kitchen door is always closed if there is any cooking going on so he's not in any danger, sooooo cheeky though! :) It's really cute to see him tweeting, head bobbing and bashing away at a cup or plate that's two or three times his size. Here are some pics from this morning.. ..I used a distraction technique to stop them playing up - it's called giving the little kiddies whatever they want as long as they're semi-quiet for 5 minutes!!

Monty seems to have trained me to give him millet on command. I don't know how he does it. Look into my eyes...not around my eyes...3 2 1 you're under..now bring me millet!

Fluffy Feathers and Threats from the King

Vegetables, Cheekiness and a Soap Dish

 

Here they are enjoying their breakfast from this morning, Mange Tout, Baby Corn, Red Pepper, Curly Parsley and Broccoli. Mounting all of the vegetables on a Broccoli stalk seemed to stop Jerry from throwing them onto the floor – which he usually does within 5 minutes of seeing loose corn or mange tout and basically anything he can pick up!

 

Earlier on Monty flew into the kitchen and started to peck at my husbands Cup whilst singing and dancing back and forth, my husband was out at the time so maybe this was Monty’s idea of being cheeky and playing about while he wasn’t here :)

 

 

We bought a stick on (with suckers) clear plastic soap dish and stuck it on the balcony windows, Jerry and Roswell have had great fun staring out of the window and jumping back and forth from the play centre to the dish and then the Tower of Terror.
