Hector and Abbie on a mission of mischief

Here they are again, the naughty Duo. Trying to find trouble before it finds them.

As I write this Abbie is trying to pull a seed pot off of the Summer Palace by hanging on the outside and banging it with her beak so that it makes a loud knocking noise.

Never a dull moment..

Spoilt budgies

Corn and basil again today. Well, they do love it :)

Jerry tried to bathe in the basil, with varying degree's of success too. He did this while the others tried to eat it though. I don't think they were too impressed. Bathing in ones food is not considered good table manners.

Abbie has taken to climbing to the top of the new ladder toy and singing, sometimes upside down. I have also seen her nibble at the wooden blocks!

On another point, we got a new Chest of drawer from a lovely Freecycler. We have used it to house Blueboy and Hector's cage. All of the budgies love to run around on it and explore it. They are getting less scardy!

Sorry about the quality of the photo, I used my mobile phone camera as my digital camera batteries had gone splat.

Hector and Abbie

Hector and Abbie have got increasingly close over the last few weeks. The little blue terror can be quite rough sometimes but she gives as good as she gets and is not scared of any of the nine boys!

I even saw them preen eachother in a brief moment of tenderness yesterday, but of course they stopped and pretended it hadn't happened as soon as I got the camera out and then it ran out of power!

Abbie's Lucky Escape

I flew into a blind panic yesterday when I got home and could not find Abbie.

I always have a head count when I have been out or before I leave to make sure that the fiends are safe.

The other eight birds were quiet. I went over to each of them and said frantically "Where's Abbie?!" as I ransacked the front room, carefully lifting up items to see if she had crawled underneath.

Then I had a thought, the day before my husband and I were discussing how Abbie keeps exhibiting nesting behaviour and trying to get behind things.

There was a small gap behind Blueboy and Hectors cage that I had blocked up (or so I thought) the day before.

I put my ear to the bookshelves and could hear a light scrabbling sound. She had fallen behind the bookshelves. I lifted off Blueboy and Hectors cage, pulled away the stack of DVD's and pulled out the bookcase. She manically flew out. It was a foot drop to the floor but luckily she was fine.

The bookcase has been completely pushed to the wall now so there is no gap. We can't get to the DVD's but that is a small price to pay.

I am so glad she's okay.

She immediately flew up to the rings and started preening herself. Hector seemed glad to see her as he launched into feeding mode.

Customised piccy of the fiends

Look at this photo my friend from a budgie forum made for me. Isn't it brilliant?

Thank you Zohie!

New Toy

The fiends have been getting to grips with their new toy. It's a swinging perch with eight places on it for them to land. They seem to like using it to preen eachother on, especially Monty and Snowy in the evenings.

I'll look up at about 8.30pm to see Snowy on the lower part and Monty above preening his head. It's very cute to watch.

Here are some photos of them enjoying the new toy having a swing-a-ling.

Also see Dumpling below, still obsessed with my feet. Just when I thought he had grown out of it!

Abbie eats with the Big Boys

She's settling in so well, I am so happy with her progress. Not only has she got both Jerry and Hector running after her giving her food but she now comes and has a nibble at the vegetables I put out for them.

Good girl Abbie :)

She makes such cute and funny little noises too, really different from the boys, a bit like Gizmo!
