The budgies said an overwhelming thank you to me for getting them new stuff, it arrived today!
Mostly the thank you consisted of biting on their banana treat stick till it was bald and flying away from their new climbing frame :)

Okay so you’re going to say I am insane (you might be right) but my budgies laugh I am sure they do. Look at Monty’s expression on his tiny feathery face, he’s laughing – HE IS DAMNIT!! :)

The birdies have been incredibly naughty these past few days – jumping on each other – biting the hand that feeds them (this is almost entirely Monty!), but because they are only birdies and can’t help being mischievous and well, we like buying them stuff and seeing their little fuzzy faces light up (usually with terror) when they see a new toy.
Today we ordered from Zooplus – some Kiwi, Fig and banana sticks, 4 lovely natural wood perches and a little climbing frame.

Monty bit me again today!
It was totally unprovoked and he just wouldn’t let up, he climbed on my finger and then just started attacking it and squiggling at me (it’s the noise that they make when annoyed, sounds like a miniature horse)
So today is dedicated to the evil terror known as King Monty..

I decided to use the flash on my camera today, hadn’t been using it much before in case it scared the budgies, turns out it doesn’t bother them at all, maybe something to do with them seeing more frames per second than us – probably looks like the light is there for ages or something!
“Jerry, you’ve been papped” laughs Roswell
“One, two, three – bottoms away!”
Jerry “It’s a lovely evening for cocktails isn’t it Roswell, I’ll have a Cosmopolitan”
Roswell to Jerry “She’s always taking photos of that mouthy blue one, he just doesn’t appreciate artistic content”
Monty “Can’t talk, eating!”
Jerry “No, EVERYONE face the wall”
Monty “Not coming down till you put that camera away”
Me “Jerry, Smile!”…”Oh, where is he?”
As my previous post said, they have been really naughty and energetic today, Monty has bitten me twice, once this morning and once this afternoon – both times I was trying to get him away from Jerry as he was in “fight mode”. I can guarantee when he is in this mood that he will jump on my hand and savage it if I put it near him – which has it’s advantages as it makes it quite easy to remove him from the other budgies and place him in solitary (one of the cages we have – don’t worry they are both pretty large) for a few minutes while he calms down.
Anyway here are some pics from the day.

I gave ‘em millet to try and calm them all down and take their tiny minds off of trying to jump on each other. Yeah I am that mother that bribes their kids with sweeties to shut them up cos they are driving me INSANE!
| Naughty Monty just bit my finger! They have been very naughty today :( Roswell has been exhibiting a lot of "Snowy love" today it must be mating season for the birds or something. He's been chasing Snowy around and showing off to him like he were a female budgie, this has been driving Monty and Jerry mental so they have all been fighting. A total budgie-shaped nightmare! Here is a pic of my finger after Monty had bitten it you can clearly see two perfect little beak marks he almost broke the skin this time. |
