Naughty budgie photos from the day

Abbie has been driving me bonkers today. She will not stop nibbling on stuff. We thought we had stopped her from nibbling on the top of the curtain by putting some cartons on the pole and blu-taking them to the wall.

This worked for about five minutes so we put bags up there (really tough ones!) she nibbled them.

We put lino on top and even that got nibbled on.

Happy Birthday Blueboy and Sky!

On 5th October as well as being my 9 year wedding anniversary it was Sky and Blueboys too!

A whole year with us, which makes Sky 5 and Blueboy 3 years old.

They came to us together In October 2010 and have joined a happy flock.

Sky is great friends with Lilek, they whizz about the front room together causing mayhem and mischief. Blueboy is inseparable from Hector. Blueboy can be a nervous little budgie and Hector protects him, makes him feel safe.

Here are the birthday boys.

New Budgerigars Forum

A couple of days ago I tried to log into my favourite Budgerigars Forum only to find that it had been closed. I had made quite a few friends and looked forward to logging on several times a day to hear the latest news.

After a whole day with no budgie fix, I decided to set up a new forum and start the process of bringing the members back together.  I hope that we can grow and share ideas.

Maybe even bring in a few new people to share our enthusiasm of Budgies!

Marianne, Toy Destroyer

Yesterday I performed a very hard task. Not tough physically, but mentally. I had to destroy and dismantle some of the fiends toys.

Recently it has come to light through a fellow Budgie Forum Member that the rust on my budgies metal toys is dangerous and can be fatal to the poor little mites. They lick and bite all of their toys, even if you don't always see them do it.

I pulled off all of the cheap metal bells and attachments. It means that their toys are currently mostly plastic and mirrors. But this is a small price to pay for good health.

Also found out that it's impossible to buy stainless steel "Bird-Safe" bells in this country and have had to resort to ordering them from America, expensive but worth it.

This post is dedicated to Mikko the budgie, thank you little guy.

Seed Storage and a new table for the fiends

We managed to get hold of a great cool box for storage of the 20kg sack of budgie seed that we took delivery of recently. It didn't all fit though so we had to store the remainder in some klip it boxes!

We also got a great new(ish - we got it from a kind soul on Freecycle) table on wheels to put the Summer Palace on, this should make it much easier when vacuuming and sweeping as it can be rolled out of the way.

When Monty saw it he felt he was one step closer to owning that Harley he had always dreamed of.

Lilek gives his opinion on Chives

I, Lilek the budgie also known as "Dumpling" by my owner, declare that Chives are fit for budgie consumption and also quite good to roll in when pegged in a dish and sprayed with water in a satisfactory manner. I must admit to not liking being called Dumpling or even worse "Dumples" or "Dumpy Wumpy" and if my owner wants to know why I almost bit off her entire finger today then she need look no further. I also demand more millet and human food - I would like a share of the twisty white things that the humans have for lunch everyday with that red sauce and those tiny brown squares that they eat far too much of, I want to know what they taste like. I also want to see more colourful socks and be near more feet. My owner insisted that we upload these photos because she thinks I am cute.

Spied on by a bird, Dumpling takes a dip, Hitchcock eat your heart out!

Yesterday I was standing at the sink washing up and I heard a squawk followed by lots of high pitched calls. I turned to look behind me and I saw little Dumpling (aka Lilek) staring round the corner at me, he was sitting on the edge of the mirror ledge watching me. Of course I had to run and get the camera as he looked quite cute and curious - the cheeky little monkey. In the end I had to close the kitchen door to finish the washing up in case he came into the kitchen and tried to "help". He also had a little shower under the tap later on too, turns out he loves the sound of running water :) See my birds, they are many and I am few, they like to stare down and me and wonder what I taste like with stew. Well not really but look at this picture of eight of them looking down at me, reminiscent of Hitchcocks "The Birds" We still have major broadband issues (Thanks Orange) so I can only upload small photos I'm afraid til we're fully back online on 7th March. Have yourself a Budgie little christmas

The budgies have really been enjoying themselves this christmas. Some relatives came round on the 23rd and their "uncle" played with Lilek and Sky a lot, mostly Lilek. I think that uncle D enjoyed himself more than the budgies did, he even let Lilek stand on his head, Lilek looked very comfortable up there. Uncle D is lucky that Lilek had had made a dropping just a minute earlier!

Their nan and aunties bought them millet, which they obviously LOVE!

We got them a budgie mirror "disco" ball so that they can listen to their favourite tunes and boogie on the dance floor.

We put some small Xmas decorations up behind the budgie screen so that the birdies couldn't nibble any of them but the room still had a slightly festive feel to it.

Today the budgies are tired from all their Xmas feasting so I ran them a relaxing Basil bath. After they had finished splashing about in the water with basil in it, I pegged up the basil on to their climbing frame and playground for them to nibble on. Well you have to cleanse your palate don't you :D

Seven birds eating breakfast

It's not easy to get breakfast organised when you have seven hungry beaks to feed. Especially when they don't all stay in the same place at the same time, sometimes it's possible to get a good photo though.
